Nokia 9, which is slated for the 2018 release, is expected to feature a dual-lens camera setup. An accidental information leak by the HMD Global indicates that the flagship may sport dual lens camera along with optical zoom and wide-angle mode options.
Lately, we have heard about the updated Nokia 6, and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 which are anticipated to flaunt dual lens camera. Another popular smartphone with the similar feature is the Apple iPhone X, which sports dual 12MP primary camera with OIS and 2x optical zoom options.
Recently, the Android Oreo beta update for Nokia 5 included an update to the camera app, which emphasized on a few aspects that are not present in the current Nokia devices. The aspects include 2x telephoto zoom and wide-angle photography options, which are suitable only for phones with dual lens camera setup.
But both Nokia 5 and Nokia 8 are incapable of housing these features, despite the latter featuring dual lenses. The camera technology used in Nokia 8 blends images from monochrome and color lens but doesn’t support wide-angle and telephoto zoom elements.
Hence, this may be an indication that the update might be for Nokia 9, considering it is the premier flagship from the phone maker. This information leak strongly hits at the Nokia 9, however, an official announcement will only confirm the facts.
On the other hand, news about the new Nokia 8 (2018) release is also coming out with similar features. So, we can expect these camera aspects to be present in either Nokia 8 (2018) or Nokia 9 or both. Many Nokia upcoming smartphones are up to to be launched by Nokia in 2018 as Nokia P1 and Nokia Edge are coming soon.
